Do you cry a lot? Do you live in the same city as an ex partner and run into them frequently, leaving you a sobbing mess for days on end afterward? Do you wake up with your eyes nearly swollen shut (due to aforementioned crying) on a regular basis? No? Just me? OK, so here’s the tea: I ran into my ex boyfriend after three months of no contact and proceeded to cry for three days straight afterward. The good news? Therabody just launched the TheraFace Depuffing Wand ($149) and it quite literally saved my face.

Even outside of the crying, I’m one of those girlie pops who typically wakes up with some facial puffiness. Whether it’s because of allergy season, or because I ate too much salt the night before, I usually like to do a little de-puffing in the morning when I wake up. I’ve tried weird TikTok hacks that do nothing and tons of different beauty products and treatments. This product doesn’t require a freezer, and I can throw it in my purse if I plan to do a little crying on the go. It’s kinda changed my life.

Keep scrolling to read my full review of the TheraFace Depuffing Wand and find out why it’s become a permanent fixture in my routine.

What I Like About the Therabody TheraFace Depuffing Wandr

Where do I begin? I love a cold treatment. I use ice rollers, I’ve dunked my face in freezing cold bowls of water, and I keep my eye and face masks in the fridge because I’m obsessed with how a chilled mask feels prior to applying makeup. (The fact that it boosts circulation and helps with inflammation is really just a bonus.)

This product gives me the cooling sensation I love, except I don’t have to worry about water dripping down my face and neck, taking it in and out of the freezer, or waiting for it to get cold enough for me to use. At the press of a button I can oscillate between cold and hot treatments, and I can bring it with me anywhere I go. It’s small enough to fit in my purse, and it even has a travel cap that fits over the top so I can make sure the applicator stays clean.

How to Use the Therabody TheraFace Depuffing Wand

Start by long pressing on either the snowflake (cold) or flame (hot) buttons to turn the device on or off. You can short press to switch between treatments. The brand recommends doing the treatment on a makeup free face. Start on one side of the face, and move the device in an upward and outward motion. Once three minutes has passed, the LED will flash which signals you to switch to the other side of your face.

The brand recommends using the heat treatment prior to serums and moisturizers and the cold treatment in the morning.

In all honesty, I don’t find much use for the heat treatment, but I use the cold treatment quite often, especially in the morning. I find that on the weekends it’s nice to do while I’m in bed before I get up, and during the week I like to run it over my face before I put on my skin-care products. It’s also perfect for post-crying, and great for whenever I have a headache.

What to Consider Before Trying the Therabody TheraFace Depuffing Wand

I’m genuinely obsessed with this product and can’t find much fault to it, but if you like the feel of an ice roller and how much surface area it covers in just one swipe, this might not be the product for you. The contoured applicator shape is large, and it does cover a lot of space, but it really only allows you to work on one area of the face at a time.

Is the Therabody TheraFace Depuffing Wand Worth the Splurge?

Priced at $149, this product isn’t what I’d call cheap. However, it’s travel-friendly, you can bring it with you practically anywhere, and you don’t have to worry about it melting in your purse. It’s cold whenever you need it at the press of a button, and it’s easy to clean. In my opinion, it’s worth it. If you travel a lot and also like to de-puff often, I’d 100 percent recommend it.
